Alejandro Balde, 22, remains in the debate over his future at Barça
The left-back Alejandro Balde, 22, is at the centre of the discussion about his continuity at FC Barcelona after a meeting with his agent Jorge Mendes. The Portuguese personally presented the offers he has, both in Europe and Saudi Arabia, and stressed the urgency of deciding before the transfer window closes on 1 September.
Meeting with Jorge Mendes
Jorge Mendes spent the period from Thursday noon to Friday night at the club for Joao Cancelo’s presentation and to share market information with the players he represents, Marc Casadó (22) and Alejandro Balde (22). In Balde’s case, the agent keeps the position open, although the player’s initial intention is to stay in blue-and-red.
Flick and Cancelo’s return
Head coach Hansi Flick left Balde’s future, as well as Jules Koundé’s, hanging in the balance during a press conference before the league debut in Elche. Flick stressed that, when bringing in new players, he aims to strengthen the squad and that “we have to wait until the end of the transfer window” to decide.
Interest from the Premier League
With less than a week and a half to the deadline, Balde is especially attractive in the Premier League. Manchester United, with Luke Shaw (31) on the left flank and academy product Harry Amass (19) who has been on loan at Norwich in the Championship, sees him as a viable option.
Contract and potential departures
Balde has won three La Liga titles with Barça and has played 168 matches since September 2021. His contract runs until 2028, and the club would not oppose a sale for a notable fee.
