Barcelona considers Vlahovic as Alvarez alternative
Barcelona continues its search for a Robert Lewandowski replacement and, after failing to progress with Julián Álvarez, is evaluating other options. Among them is Dusan Vlahovic, currently a free agent after leaving Juventus. Although Besiktas offered him a contract with a net salary of €8 million and a €5 million signing bonus, the Serbian striker prefers to wait for a proposal from Barça.
Why hasn’t Vlahovic signed with Besiktas?
According to Diario SPORT, Vlahovic has asked for more time to decide, despite Besiktas’ ultimatum. Coach Vincenzo Italiano, who previously worked with him, wants him on the team, but the player prefers to bet on Barcelona. The Catalan club, however, has doubts about his physical condition and his salary demands, which exceed €10 million plus an €8 million bonus.
What will happen in Barcelona’s transfer market?
Barcelona has not managed to secure Álvarez’s arrival, and the possible departure of Ferran Torres to PSG further complicates the situation. With only one natural striker in the squad, the club may be forced to move for Vlahovic. Although his physical performance is not optimal, his quality is recognized, and the player is willing to wait.
Barcelona’s current context
The team finished the 2025 season as La Liga leaders with 79 points, 9 ahead of Real Madrid, and a goal difference of +54 (84 scored, 30 conceded). Their next match will be against Athletic Club on February 28, 2027, while Frenkie de Jong remains sidelined.
