Marotta Declares No Talk About Lautaro to Barcelona
Inter president Giuseppe Marotta spoke before the match against Monza: "No one should even talk" about selling Lautaro Martínez to Barcelona. The club’s chairman said there is no figure that could change Inter’s stance and that a negotiation for the captain is not being considered.
Inter Wins 4-1 Over Monza
The match, held at the San Siro, started with Lautaro Martínez as a starter and captain. At five minutes, Hakan Calhanoglu opened the score with a powerful shot from outside the box. Monza equalised before the break, and Lautaro received a yellow card for a foul. In the second half, Piotr Zielinski put Inter back in front. Lautaro was substituted at 54 minutes for Ange-Yoan Bonny. With the Argentine off the pitch, Francesco Esposito and Yann Bisseck added to the lead, completing a 4-1 victory for Inter.
Lautaro Martínez, Inter’s Cornerstone
Marotta explained that Lautaro is the captain and represents the club’s current history. "There are absolutely no conditions for him to leave Inter, we do not want to give up Lautaro in any way and for any amount," he said. The 29-year-old striker remains a key part of Inter’s strategy for the 2026-27 season.
The Match Marks the Start of the 2026-27 Season
Inter’s win in their season opener reinforces the club’s confidence in its squad. Marotta’s firm stance on the captain’s future aligns with Inter’s solid performance in Serie A, as the champions continue their campaign with a strong defense and an attack led by players like Lautaro Martínez.
