FC Barcelona considers it highly feasible for the 2030 World Cup final to be held at Spotify Camp Nou, according to the club's social vice president Antonio Escudero. The director expressed firm confidence in the azulgrana stadium's bid for the tournament's decisive match.
Escudero explained that international sporting authorities are receptive and the club has made a major effort to position itself. "We would like it very much. I believe so, it is very possible," the vice president said. "The world's sporting authorities are up for the task. We have made a great effort and we have a great stadium." He added that, in his opinion, "there is a very high percentage chance that it will be so."
The final decision rests with FIFA, which has not yet announced the definitive venue. The joint bid from Spain, Portugal, and Morocco presents three stadiums that received the same technical evaluation score: the Santiago Bernabéu, Spotify Camp Nou, and the Grand Stade Hassan II in Casablanca. For capacity, the Moroccan stadium leads with 115,000 seats, followed by Camp Nou with 105,000 and the Bernabéu, which after renovation would reach 85,000.
The debate over the host venue remains open, with some voices pointing to political criteria favouring Morocco, while others defend the Madrid stadium. Rafael Louzán, president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, argued earlier this month that Spain, as "the best football country today," should host the final. However, the federation does not expect a FIFA decision this year, and it could be delayed until 2028.
This institutional push for a world-class event coincides with a period of great sporting strength for the first team. Barça leads LaLiga with 21 points after seven matchdays, with a perfect record of seven wins. The team is on a five-game winning streak, a run of form demonstrated in their last match on September 19, when they beat Sevilla 1-3 with a hat-trick from Raphinha, their top scorer this season with 12 goals. The winning streak, which includes a 7-2 thrashing of Racing Santander, will be tested in the next fixture against Getafe at home.
In the same appearance, Escudero flatly denied that the club is studying an increase in season ticket prices. "No one has spoken about raising season tickets. They can be calm," he stated. Regarding the timeline for the Camp Nou renovation, the 'Espai Barça' project, the vice president expressed confidence it will be met, despite admitting he was "critical" of the decision to leave Montjuïc. The project advances as the team, leaders with a five-point advantage over Atlético Madrid, prepares for the next challenge while also keeping an eye on a potentially historic 2030 horizon.
