Argentine forward Martín Sarrafiore has opened up about his formative years at Barcelona's youth setup and at Manchester City, expressing his ambition to return to Europe. The player, now at Liga MX side Atlante, views those early experiences as key for his professional path.
Sarrafiore spent around five years at Barcelona Junior Luján, an Argentine affiliate of the Catalan club. During that time, he travelled to Spain and visited the famed La Masia academy, getting a firsthand look at the club's philosophy. Those initial steps within the Blaugrana structure were key for his growth.
Later, the attacker also had a stint in Manchester City's youth ranks. "It's a huge, beautiful club. It has incredible facilities," Sarrafiore said of his time in England. "They treated the young players as if they were professionals. You lack for nothing," he added, praising the top-level professionalism he encountered.
The Argentine, who travelled alone during his time abroad, admits the experience forced him to grow up quickly. "Very nice. The truth is it made me mature a lot. I had to go alone," he explained.
